BOF celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2007.  We honoured this occasion by inviting young and old to a new and exciting way of enjoying “BOF country” and improving their physical fitness with Geocaching. In each of our member municipalities, we have hidden one or two “treasures”, called caches.  In each cache, we have placed a “travel bug” ¾ a small object with a unique identification number and a very special mission that the finder can carry on one stage of its journey out in the world. Over the next 5 years, right up to our 75th anniversary, we will use geocaching.com to track the progress of our travel bugs during their epic 5-year journeys to support outdoor recreation!

We will also keep track of travellers who visit our caches, and rewarded a GPS unit to each of the first 3 persons who found all the treasures. Moreover, to help reduce the use of disposable grills, we will reward a practical reusable grill to each of the first 70 persons to find at least 10 treasures.

To the right we show the participants that has discovered the largest number of treasures. On the rear of the logbook in each cache, remember to enter the ”cache code”. We have prepared a form that you can download and use during your journeys and visits to the various outdoor recreation areas.

We hope to see plenty of activity in our recreation areas in the years ahead and it will be exciting to see where the travel bugs go, where they have been, and what they have experienced during this time. They must travel in environmentally friendly ways; for example, by bicycle or on foot; by row­boat, sail­boat, canoe or kayak; or by electric car.
